hacking my way through life

About Me

I'm Jaime Hernandez. I am a programmer and web developer. I began working on my own as tech support by occasionally posting on craigslist and helping friends and family. Often, I would backup data and repair systems with different operation systems which gave me an understanding of different platforms. Eventually, I grew tired of tech support and wanted to learn more about the internals of the computer. Working with different operating systems sparked my interest and I decided to learn computer programming.

I am proficient with the major operating systems and some linux varieties. I have involved myself with open source by assisting in bug fixing in different projects. I am familiar with a few computer languages. I first learned C++ with the std library and with .NET. That led me into higher level languages like Java and C#. Currently, I have been working consistently with PHP and the Codeigniter framework to develop websites while trying my hand at Python and different frameworks. Over the years, I have created many small websites, so I am proficient with XHTML, CSS, and Javascript so when I was introduced to the Codeigniter framework for a contract job I loved it.

Currently, I am self employed making websites and web applications. I go to school part-time working to finish my Computer Science degree.
